DESCRIPTION

Residential villa under 200 sq.m. For a while we wanted to make a quick study of natural lighting – what impact it creates on spaces we live in – both on architectural and interior design levels. It gave us freedom to think about the rhythm, different heights as well as the play between the light and shadows. Does the window have to be placed by using traditional conventions or maybe it can become a narrow stripe of light by the wall to ceiling or floor to wall junctions? How does it change the perception of geometries we live in? Shall it be a window having a view, or maybe it can be a skylight? Is it the view or is it the light  – which one plays a bigger role in everyday well-being?
Besides those thoughts this project is a stretch of architectural muscles – an exercise for escaping so called minimal compositions of two volumes, but rather a bit bravier composition of different height volumes which create different courtyards and spaces around the building.
