DESCRIPTION

This is 31 sq. m. Studio has a hybrid typology – it‘s tailored for public as well as private use. The client required a space where they could hold psycho-therapy meetings as well as have a possibility for overnight stays, which created an interesting challenge to solve. The main focus is placed on the contrast between cold and warm material surfaces as well as an interplay between natural and artificial lighting. Micro-cement was chosen as the inner envelope finish due to its high contrast with wooden furniture or steel/copper elements. Both – the kitchen front as well as the hallway wardrobe are joined into an unified volume, which being wood, acts as a high contrast element against the concrete backdrop. The light slides against the curved walls becoming softer, calmer. This is enhanced by the use of shoji paper screens. These screens also increase privacy which is needed for psycho-therapy. The overall space is quite minimal, without any distractions. It offers a soothing – almost sacral – atmosphere.
